How did you come up with A Wrinkle in Time? I am reading it now in gifted and I'd like to know where you're inspiration came from.
Madeleine died in 2007, but she would say that she never quite knew where the inspiration came from , except that she was writing about a universe in which she hoped to believe. There are references to the tesseract in her journal as early as 1954, and the names Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who, and Mrs Which popped into her head during a drive through the Painted Desert. She would also say that "inspiration comes during the work, rather than before it," and that a writer must read other writers, write every day, and keep a journal.
Madeleine wrote about being on a panel or committee interviewing a candidate for priesthood. He said he didn't have time to read the Bible. She asked why he didn't read it in the bathroom and that shocked him. Does this ring a bell? I'd like to know where to find this passage.Madeleine L'Engle responded on 03/01/2017 Next question
